Who Writes

I am Farah. I live in Hougang, in a flat where the landing between the fifth and sixth floors has become my thinking spot. I work a regular office job that does not belong on this blog. What belongs here are the small hours — kopi, buses, stairwells, the radio, the market.
I am not a company, not a coach, not a journalist. Second Landing is a personal site I pay to host because writing in public keeps me honest about the ordinary.
This is a personal blog recording my own experiences and opinions. It is not professional, medical, legal, financial or news-reporting advice. The entry about Chin Swee describes only what I heard and saw from my position — not a report of events. If you spot an error, email me.
I grew up with lifts and stairwells, with the smell of cooking drifting through corridors, with the MRT as background music. Singapore is not a backdrop for me — it is the material. I write in British spelling because that is what school left me with: organise, colour, centre, neighbour.
I take photographs sometimes but rarely use them here — words feel less performative for this site. The images that appear are companions to a mood, not proof of attendance.
Corrections welcome by email. I will fix typos and factual slips about my own life; I will not rewrite a memory because someone else remembers it differently.
Most drafts begin on the landing in Notes on my phone — thumb-typed, full of half sentences. I move them here when they have a beginning, middle, and a reason to exist beyond venting. I delete more than I publish.
The Hougang in these pages is mine: the lift that stalls, the market auntie who remembers my preference for smaller fish, the bus routes I take without checking the app because muscle memory is faster. If your Hougang is different, that is expected. Blocks change; people move. I am writing from one address, not for a neighbourhood press office.
